Bernie has more than 20 years experience in the quarrying industry including 15 years with Winstone Aggregates. His core competencies encompass conceptualising, developing and operating quarries and associated businesses throughout New Zealand. Bernie leads a team of highly qualified and experienced managers who look after 26 operating sites and a distribution fleet of 70 trucks.
Andrea Cave
Environment Manager MA (First Class Honours)
Andrea is responsible for the management of the Winstone Aggregates’ environmental, including improved biodiversity, and sustainability functions. With a Master’s degree in Geography (majoring in Resource Management), Andrea’s background includes roles at various Auckland councils as well as international experience, in particular the United Kingdom where she held a number of environmental management positions. She is an active member of the Sustainable Business Network.
Brett Horrobin
National Distribution Manager
With twenty eight years experience in the bulk transport industry including management of his own transport operation, Brett has overall responsibility for Winstone Aggregates’ transport logisitcs. His fuel efficiency programmes are acknowledged by the Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (EECA). See Brett in the EECA Energy Spot TVC
Chris Edmonds
Business Unit Manager
Chris has a background of more than 26 years in the aggregates industry with experience gained in both New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He has managed a variety of operations at Winstone Aggregates and is currently responsible for resource recovery.
Darran Lees
National Sales and Marketing Manager
Darran has a wide industry experience, having spent 20 years in the UK concrete industry before joining Winstone Aggregates in 2008. He has held management positions in various areas including sales, marketing, transport and operations.
Gavin Laidlaw
Commercial Manager NZICA Chartered Accountant
Gavin has over twenty years senior commercial and financial management experience, gained in a range of industries throughout New Zealand and Asia. He is responsible for the management of contractual and financial activities.
Mike McSaveney
Resource Development Manager BSc, Post Grad Diploma in Management, MBA
Since joining Winstone Aggregates in 1995, Mike has been responsible for a range of areas including quarries, operations and resource development. With business and earth science qualifications, he has a strong background in operations. He is currently managing the planning, consenting and development of our existing operations and is also responsible for the generation and assessment of business development opportunities.

Human Resource Manager Steve Dohnt is responsible for best practice human resource, and health and safety at Winstone Aggregates.
Tim Hazell
Business Unit Manager BSc
With qualifications in exploration geology, Tim has extensive international experience in oil exploration and quarrying. Since Tim joined Winstone Aggregates in 2007 he has undertaken a number of roles including management of Hunua Quarry, the company’s largest site, and operational responsibility for the Southern Area.
