Puni Sand Plant is located on the Waikato River west of Pukekohe. The Plant has been a part of the local community since the 1950s when it was owned and run by the Henry family.
Winstone Aggregates purchased the site in 1970 to assist in serving the expanding Auckland manufacturing and construction markets. Sand and pumice originating from the North Island’s central volcanic plateau are dredged from the river and barged ashore for further processing, stockpiling and sale. The site produces sands and pumice for supply to manufacturers, specialist horticultural applications and civil construction. Pumice grades and industrial sand grades are also blended.
