Whitehall Quarry has been operating since the 1950s. Rock quarried at Whitehall is part of a regionally significant aggregate resource that is used throughout the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, East Coast and Auckland regions.

The quarry was initially established to provide material for the landowner’s farming operations but was later expanded to provide aggregate resources for the construction of the Karapiro Hydro Dam on the Waikato River. Winstone Aggregates took over the management of Whitehall Quarry in 1998.
