Named after its original mountain top appearance, Flat Top Quarry is located in the rural Kaukapakapa area, north of Auckland. The rock resource is a basaltic andesite of volcanic origin which probably erupted under the sea. Products from Flat Top are used mainly in road maintenance and construction.
