The Tamahere quarry located just south of Hamilton, was established in 2011 and the underlying land, including the rights to sell and extract sand, was leased by Winstone from Waikato Aggregates in 2019.
Aside from sand the Tamahere quarry produces a small amount of other aggregates such as pebbles and stones and covers the Waikato & Bay of Plenty. It will be returned at the end of the 15 year lease period to be rehabilitated.
